09.19.09 Time Flies...

Here it is the middle of September already! Gaads. Time does fly by -- especially in the company of good friends.

We've just bid adieu to a dear friend who moved away from Boise several years ago, but who was back in Idaho for several days. The week prior, Barry and I had the extreme pleasure of a visit from Joan Berkwitz of Pour Horse Pottery. Pour Horse creations are treasured by ceramic model horse collectors the world over, and it was Joan who launched us on our own ceramic journey nearly a decade ago. The studio really got rockin' with energy and laughter when Sarah Minkiewicz-Breunig stopped by. Interwoven through our four days together was the realization that the little things we learn incrementally along the way in our own studios do add up to big changes over a period of years. It was really fun to listen in as Joan and Barry talked about mold making. Both of them are constantly innovating, each new project presents an opportunity to develop new techniques to solve a design problem.

Well, the blog will be going quiet next week as Barry and I head back to Illinois for what we hope will be our final visit of the year to work on my mother's estate. With any luck, the house there will be ready to put on the market in October!
